Individuals suffering from depression often rely on alcohol and/or drugs to self- medicate, but in the midst of trying to feel better with drugs and alcohol, an addiction disorder is born.
For these cases, GIA provides dual diagnosis treatment, which allows us to treat both conditions simultaneously.
Our innovative depression therapy program is designed to empower you. You may be struggling to get through the day right now, but your future doesn’t have to be like that, and there is plenty to look forward to, even if today you don’t see it. Let us help you see all the potential in your life and to seize the days as they come.

The recent COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world as we knew it and caused a myriad of harmful, long-term effects in thousands of people, severely affecting their well-being and daily functioning. These effects can persist long after the acute infection has subsided.
When we think of the impacts of COVID-19, we tend to think of the physical symptoms of the disease. However, the mental and psychological symptoms can be just as overwhelming: the anxiety that comes with lost employment, the depression following the illness or loss of a loved one, the negative emotional impacts of weeks of isolation, and the general uncertainty about our futures.
Researchers are only just beginning to explore the adverse effects on the brain and mental wellness that have come with this pandemic, and we are proud to say that GIA’s team is at the forefront of this research. We have discovered that as this public health crisis has continued, many people have reported severe effects on their mental abilities, such as:
Additionally, as a result of the above, people are increasingly turning to drugs and alcohol.
If you are experiencing any of the above, the COVID-19 recovery program at GIA is here to offer guidance, support, and treatment.

To cope with the COVID-19 psychological symptoms, we offer a full complement of psychotherapeutic approaches:
The most commonly used psychotherapeutic approach, cognitive-behavioral therapy is an evidence-based approach that can help you change your thoughts and behavior patterns while helping you build healthy coping skills.
DBT uses some principles that are similar to those of CBT but provides a more in-depth focus on regulating your emotions, working through adversity and difficult moments, and overall mindfulness.
Group therapy at GIA lets you find perspective in the presence of peers and build a network of support.
Rebuild relationships with family members through therapist-led sessions.
The addiction specialists at GIA address addiction to different substances or activities in different ways. We currently have addiction-specific treatment plans that address cocaine addiction, opiate addiction, alcohol addiction, nicotine addiction, and gambling addiction, among others.
These treatment modalities are designed to address depression, anxiety, PTSD, and a host of other mood and anxiety disorders.
We support clients even after they leave our mental wellness programs by planning for the future and connecting them to our extensive alumni network.
Because we offer such a broad range of therapeutic approaches in the COVID-19 recovery program, we tailor programs to the specific needs of each patient. And all of the above are available remotely through our comprehensive telehealth program. This way, we can ensure that you get the help you need.
Our mission is to work with you to create a science-based, personalized program to help you achieve your
ideal mental wellness and optimal functioning in your daily life.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is the latest treatment in improving cognitive and psychological processes. This technique has been used for decades
with proven results in treating mood and behavioral disorders, as well as addictions, and has now been successfully adapted to maximize mental performance.
TMS is a form of non-invasive brain stimulation. A magnetic coil is placed on the patient’s scalp, creating a magnetic field. The coil is then targeted to stimulate groups of cells in the frontal areas of the brain.
The small electromagnetic pulses are painless, the procedure itself is non-invasive, and stimulation sessions usually last no more than 15 minutes.
Importantly, TMS can generally be administered without patients having to reduce or interrupt the medications that they are taking.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a condition that affects approximately 4% of U.S adults, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. However, most people suffering from PTSD avoid seeking medical treatment, and choose to ignore the issue, self-medicate or develop addictive behaviors instead. None of those choices will provide an effective and long-term solution for this condition.
GIA Miami offers a PTSD therapy that is comprehensive, innovative, and designed to provide the best possible outcome.
PTSD is a type of mental health disorder, related with traumatic memories from past experiences, that the brain has trouble processing.
As a defense mechanism, the brain blocks conscious access to the memories of a terrifying event, however, they may rise as flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, provoked by stimuli that trigger the memory (a smell, a sound, a place, a person…).
In some cases people are unable to revisit the memories and understand what is happening, while in other cases, they may experience uncontrollable thoughts about the event.

PTSD therapy will set you free from reliving a traumatic experience in any way, breaking the connection between the stimuli and the experience, and managing the negative impact those memories have on your life and actions.
At GIA Miami, therapy is always tailored to each individual’s circumstance, thus it is never the same.
During your treatment, you will work closely with your counselor to talk about your condition. In some cases, patients do not remember the specific event that has caused their condition. In others, patients know exactly what happened but haven’t dealt with it. At GIA we also provide PTSD therapy combined with any addiction treatments you may need.
PTSD creates significant changes in your brain chemistry that affect your life negatively, preventing you from fully enjoying it. But with proper care, this condition can be treated and reversed: GIA Miami’s PTSD therapy will help you heal.
If you or someone you know are suffering from PTSD call 833.713.0797 today.
